Petrifying Popcorn Slab

Ideal to make with children or a sweet edition to your cheeseboard my Petrifying Popcorn Slab is sure to hit all the spooky vibes!

Difficulty Rating

This is one of those quick throw together mad scientist creations during spooky season that always ends up being the hit item - it's all about layers. Whether you are sharing with your family whilst watching Hocus Pocus (for the 100th time!) or snapping into shards for your Halloween Char-BOO-terie board, this popcorn slab is sure to be a yearly tradition as it has become in our house.

I use sweet and salty popcorn for this recipe, if you are not a fan feel free to swap it for sweet. If you are vegan like myself just keep an eye on whether your popcorn is suitable for your dietary requirements, some popcorns can have some sneaky milk powder in there.

Ingredients

  • 200g vegan milk chocolate (Aldi's is fantastic)

  • Sweet and Salty Popcorn (I bought 110g bag and used about 75g)

  • 1 tbsp vegan mini marshmallows (Asda OMV range)

  • 2 large vegan marshmallows (Asda OMV range)

  • Vegan Halloween sprinkles (Baking Time Club)

  • Handful of salted pretzels, crushed

Method

  1. Line a square cake tin or dish with baking paper (it's gonna get a little messy)

  2. Break up your chocolate into a microwavable dish or jug, and heat the chocolate in 30 second bursts, stirring frequently until melted.

  3. Onto the two large marshmallows (to make our ghosts) draw eyes and a mouth with the melted chocolate using a chopstick or a toothpick. Put aside to set.

  4. Pour some of the melted chocolate into the base of the lined tin and cover with a layer of popcorn.

  5. Drizzle more melted chocolate on top of the first popcorn layer and add the crushed pretzels.

  6. Top with another layer of popcorn, drizzle the remaining chocolate on top and cover with sprinkles, marshmallows and your two ghost marshmallows.

  7. Set in the fridge for at least an hour. Slice and enjoy!

Will you be making a Petrifying Popcorn Slab this year? What movie will you be watching with it?

Blessed be,
