Sam's Snickers Squares

Today, I’m thrilled to share our current hyper fixation recipe in our household that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth while keeping things wholesome and (accidently) vegan. Say hello to what my partner has christened Sam's Snickers Squares—a delightful fusion of rich dates, creamy nut butter, crunchy nuts, and decadent chocolate.

This viral recipe takes the classic Snickers bar and gives it a plant-based makeover. Perfect for a midday snack, a post-dinner treat, or even a gift for your friends and family. Sam's Snickers Squares are incredibly easy to make and packed with natural ingredients. The best part? They require no baking!

With a chewy date base, a creamy peanut butter layer, and a smooth chocolate topping sprinkled with roasted peanuts, every bite is a symphony of textures and flavors. Whether you’re a seasoned vegan or just looking to try something new, this recipe will quickly become a favourite in your kitchen.

So, let’s dive into this indulgent, guilt-free treat that’s not only delicious but also nutritious.

Ingredients

  • 400g medjool dates, pitted

  • 3-4 tbsp creamy peanut butter

  • 100g dark chocolate (I like Tesco Finest Ecuador)

  • 1 tsp coconut oil

  • handful salted peanuts

Method

  • Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper. Split dates open and press down each one down onto the sheet, making sure they overlap a little so they stick together.

  • Drizzle peanut butter on top and use a spoon so spread it across the dates.

  • Melt chocolate with coconut oil and drizzle it on. Use a spoon to spread it around so it coats everything.

  • Sprinkle on chopped peanuts, and pop the baking sheet into the freezer for 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate has set. Remove from the freezer, chop the bark into squares and enjoy.

VVitch Tips

  • Store leftovers in the fridge or freezer. If you’re storing in the freezer, the dates may get rather hard so let the bark sit out a few minutes before biting into it.

  • Experiment with different nut butters, nuts for topping or even a sprinkle of sea salt for an extra burst of flavour.

And there you have it—your very own batch of homemade Sam's Snickers Squares! They’re the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy, making them a fantastic snack for any time of the day and a great alternative to store bought chocolate bars.

If you give this recipe a try, I’d love to hear how it turned out for you. Leave a comment below or tag me in your photos on Instagram. Sharing your creations makes this blogging journey even more special!
